I bought an external hard drive a couple of years ago and backed everything up. Before I knew it, I was getting a message that it's all full. I'm wondering if I hadn't set it up correctly, so that it only backed up what was new instead of backing up the entire system each time.

Is it advisable to go ahead & delete most (except photos) of what's on this external hard drive and start over?? I haven't backed up in months & I can just feel repercussions upon the horizon n don't want to get caught with my proverbial pants down.

Please, in anyone's responses, would you mind explaining to me as if I were a child? Oh wait, they all know more than we do now anyhow.....you get the idea, I'm sure.

thanks
