alright, so i periodically make a bootable backups using superduper on my external HD. can i also put random folders on my HD without messing up my bootable copy?

Unless there is an issue with SuperDuper and GUID I don't think there is any problem putting random folders on the backup drive. However, aren't your 'random folders' part of your User folder anyway? Or are you trying to back them up without running a whole SD script?
Thanks for the link. As for the random folders, i basically just want those folders on my external and take them off my Macbook itself to free up space.
