Backlight issue

Ok this has only happened twice and it's pretty random. I have recently purchased a refurbished black macbook. I was just reading something off a site, the backlight just shut off, and the next time I'm away from it, and it turns off again. I don't know if this a manufacturing problem, or I set something on my preferences to do it. I really don't know and I am new to macs. Thanks!

It's under never for inactive for both computer and displays i dont understand why it would turn off. I took out the battery so i wouldn't run too many cycles, and i put it back in and it stopped doing it. It never turned off the backlight before i took out the battery, and when i put it back it its stopped.
