I have an iphone 4s and the other day the backlight went out. The phone was still on but I could only see the display if I put it in direct light. I adjusted the brightness, turned the auto-bright on and off and nothing worked. I reset it by holding the home and sleep button for 10 seconds and when it restarted the logo lit up. I thought my problem would be solved but it still didn't work when it fully restarted. I restored my phone and the backlight was working so the problem can't be the backlight itself but some kind of setting or app disabling it. I restored from backup and the same problem occured. I really would like to keep all of my contacts and messages so if anyone knows what could cause this or how I can fix it I would very much appreciate it! Also I don't know my restriction passcode so I can't just reset settings from there :(
