Hi all,

I recently bought a refurbished Early 2011 Macbook Pro off Newegg. I received it Tuesday and it worked flawlessly until yesterday afternoon. I took it home from work and the backlight no longer works. The hard drive also seems to have gotten corrupted during the same time period as it will not boot and it is unable to repair it in Disk Utilities. The display still works, as I can see the screen if I use a flashlight, and I was able to install OSX on a usb SSD to see if that fixed the issue. The external video also works just fine.

I tried resetting the PRAM and SMC, but neither of those proved effective. I took the bottom cover off to see if maybe the display cable was loose and I reseated the connection. I noticed the thin gold metal strip on the logic board for the display cable is loose on the right side, but I wouldn't think this would matter? The function keys also do not do anything.

I'm probably going to just send it back for a replacement but I wish I could fix it instead as for a refurbish Mac, it has no dents or dings of any kind. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be all ears.
