I've seen come discussion on the topic but not on the new MBPs, my backlight, in a pitch black room and even when I cover the ambient light sensor beside the isight camera, will not come on.

Yes I have the box checked under System Preferences > Keyboard that says "Illuminate keyboard in low light conditions" and yes I downloaded Lab Tick and used to to see if the lights work or not, which they do.

I don't really care for lab tick as after the light fades, typing again doesn't make it come back on.

If I press F5 or F6 i see the symbol with the (/) underneath it as well, showing I can't change the brightness.

Anyone else have this problem? or gotten it fixed? is it software or possibly a bad sensor?
