Backlight repair cost?

ok ive been thinking about going over to the MBP for a while now, finally my friend just bought a new MBP and is selling his old one, he said there is a backlight issue with the brightness of the screen(its pretty dark) and he doesnt really know the price to fix it. So my question is has anyone had this issue? and how much did it cost you to fix? im new to all this.

I would check out powerbookmedic website for parts. It would be helpful if you told us what "old macbook pro" you were talking about. How old is it?
