Hi guys.

Weird one this.. or might not be, I just don't know / can't think of the reasons behind it.

Occasionally, my backlight keys stop working temporarily. I've noticed it's usually after I 'brighten' the screen display.

When it ceases to work, the backlight can either be on, or off.. whatever it's current state before i press the button. It just means that I cannot toggle brigher / dimmer.

The icon that displays is this one:

Anybody have any ideas?

(PS. this seems to happen at all battery charge statuses, including via mains)

FIXED:

Apologies, did a bit of further researching.

It's to do with the abient light sensor right next to the webcam. If you hover your finger over it, it'll then allow you to light/dim the keyboard backlight.

To disable this setting simply unckeck the 'Automatically illuminate keyboard in low light' tickbox within System Preferences -> Keyboard. This will then disable that sensor and it'll be fully manual then.

Thanks :D
