Thats pretty awesome...I would do it if there was an easy tutorial. I notice there using the backlight for the screen to light the logo? Would make the camera so much better in the dark!!!

Its too bright in my opinion, if it was like the MacBooks that would be sweet.

The other problem is I think this is only possible on the first gen iPhones as the chrome apple was an actual insert into the metal casing whereas the iPhone 3G just has the apple painted on the plastic backing.

I think its quite hard to tell the brightness as it was filmed in a dark room with not the best quality camera...also, as the title says, its not a 3G iPhone. :)

i know its not a 3G iPhone, I was just saying it would be hard to do it for a 3G iPhone.

Fair point...I wish they would post a how to :p

They're trying to charge 300 USD to do this mod for pple.

also i think it would be great as a flash for the camera. The brighter the better. Even better if it would turn on ONLY when the camera is in use.

assuming it's using the backlight from the lcd screen and some form of fiber optics i doubt battery life would even be an issue.

I don't think the light is actually coming from the backlight because there are other components and circuit boards behind the backlight of the LCD. I would of thought they put LEDs light behind it. Or it's a fake :p

The light is way too bright. Using that phone at night would look like there was a spotlight blaring out of your iPhone. Beam me up, Scotty!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5B108 Safari/525.20)

I would do this if. knew how

Good point. Maybe they cut an apple-shaped hole in the circuit board. ;)

Probably stuffed an LED back there. Even if it were from the backlight of the screen, it would turn off when you put it by your head anyway because of the proximity sensor.
