Hi People,
Here goes my first message to this forum. To be honest, it's the first I'm using a Mac, so somehow everything is pretty new to me.
A few weeks ago I was reading some IT news, and heard that the MacBook Pro 13" from mid 2012 is a gem. Even being "old", it's pretty tough and runs like a charm. It turned out I could find a local seller with one of this. The price was around 200 euros, and I gave a try.
Everything is going great. And I decided to update the RAM. I got one 8GB SO-DIMM memory and the MacBook recognized it immediately. However, during the RAM installation, I forced the plastic holders too strong, and one of them broke. The memory can still be used, and no hardware problems were detected.
But, here comes the "nice" part of the history. I tried to use some super-clue to put the plastic holder together. However, some drops of the super-glue leaked to the bottom of the chassis. Actually, it touched the black plastic protection of the keyboard blacklit. The result is that a silver material is now exposed. Please, check the pictures I have attached. They show this silver material, and also the missing RAM holder (right side).
So far, the keyboard or the backlit function are not compromised. Neither are the RAM, the RAM slot, or any other component (as far as I know). It's also worthy mentioning that no overheating is happening.
I have planned to change the keyboard, given that the laptop comes with a QWERTZ German keyboard. I found on eBay lots of affordable options, and one of them is on the way.
Thus, essentially, my question is, is it dangerous to run the laptop this way? When I open it, I can feel the smell of this silver material.
Any advice is more than welcomed.
Greetings
