Hey, does anyone use anything like this: http://www.amazon.com/Housing-Repla..._1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1334360616&sr=1-1

I really like the look of it, and it seems like a good way to protect the original glass backing for resale later down the road...if anyone uses something similar or has seen it in person - does it look tacky or cool?

My original backplate isn't broken, I was just thinking this might be cool to do...there are some really nice authentic wood ones too: http://shop.materialsix.com/product/swirly-walnut

They're like $90 though :-/

Why not just buy a original backplate and save it then just change it when you want to resale it later on? A real legit apple backplate is like $20-25 on ebay.

That would work too - but part of the reason for wanting to do it (besides protecting the original backplate) is to switch up the look of the phone without adding a bulky case. Was just wondering if people had seen iphones with this metallic/wood backplate and how it looked...

But yes that's a good suggestion for the sake of protecting the backplate! Of course, then I could also just use my original one and if it ever breaks/gets really scratched, just replace with a legit apple one later...
