Backround change lag.

As you can see from my signature below i have 2 macs. When i try to change my desktop background on my intel imac it is really laggie, but changing the background on my G3 ibook is speedy. Every time i try to change the picture on my imac, the window gets very slow and unresponsive. I have no idea why.

Any one else got this problem.
