In my head.
Hi ,

Is there a way to map backspace to act as a backward key in finder as it does in firefox ?

Cheers

I don't think so - I always thought you could but I guess not.

There is probably some shortcut in doing this.

cmd does not do it in my case. i have read about this tweak somewhere but cannot remember where. bummer ! it would be so useful :apple:

This is hard coded into the Finder. It must work on your machine...

Are you pressing only ⌘? Are you holding it down when you press the left bracket key?

It's "⌘-[" The Command key and left bracket ("[") simultaneously. Press ⌘ and keep it down while pressing [

Forward, by the way, is ⌘-]

oki i was a bit of a bum :D yeah it does work folks ! Thank you very much..but is there a way to map this shortcut to backspace ? so i press just one button rather the the combination of two ?

No. The delete key can't be used for user-specified KB shortcuts (in Finder at least).

i'm not sure but there are some free keyboard re-mapping applications that may help to accomplish this. There are some old threads about using other keyboard keys as forward delete, like using the small enter key on, or left option key to do different things in a MacBook. If I found them I'll post something later this week.
