Backup a not jailbroken iphone without itunes?

My iphone wont sync/backup with itunes as I get an error when plugging it in. Then I'm promoted to restore it, I want to do this but I would like to backup my contacts first is this possible to do?

I should add all third party apps crash upon attempting to open.

That won't work as it won't sync contacts already on your phone and if you're not careful will actually delete all your existing contacts.
