I have an iMac 2 GHz Intel Core Duo and am backing up my hard drive to a Maxtor external drive. I now discover that my hard drive is filling up with my iTunes and iPhotos. I have purchased a 750 Gig Maxtor extrernal drive and hope to use it to archive iTunes and iPhotos that I want to keep and be able to retrieve with a minimum of effort, but don't need immediate access to.

Is there a routine or method of doing this? I need a routine that will take the files off my iTunes and iPhotos and put them onto the archive disc. This will give me room on my main harddrive to continue, but when I want to access the archived pictures or mp3s, I should be able to copy them from the archive drive to iTunes or iPhotos.

Actually as I type my question it sounds like I might have anseered it, but if anyone has suggestions, please jump in here.
