My coworker has been using his 6s for many years (as you Dan imagine) and is finally planning to upgrade. He doesn't own a computer anymore and I don't remember what he said about backup to iCloud. What are his options?

1. Turn on iCloud backup and backup his current iPhone before he starts setting up his new phone
2. When setting up new iPhone, select backup just made in step one to restore to his new iPhone.

Or, if he is on iOS 13, use the phone to phone transfer in setup when setting up the new phone. He'll need to have his old phone and his new phone to do this.

Using a 6s for many years, and he has no backup? I'm loathe to think how much precious data is on that phone, only a theft or accident away from being lost forever.

It's only a dollar a month to have 50GB of iCloud storage, which is more than enough to back up 90% of iPhones. I suggest pointing this out to him so he can back up his phone (which will make moving to a new phone much eaiser) and so his data is safe. Good luck.
