backup files and other in macbook pro

I use the time machine with the external HDD for back up. But when I check the storage of MBP, it took over 200gb out of 500gb. idk about those backups but I REALLY want to delete those backups in MBP and keep saving files in External HDD. Any idea?

Did you disable local snapshots?

Are you referring to the purple Backups section in that graphic from About this Mac? Just turn Time Machine off then on again and that will zero out.
