Backup iPhone 5S to iCloud

Is it wise to backup my iPhone to Both iTunes on my iMac and to also backup the phone to iCloud on the phone itself? Do many of you do both or is it a waste to do it that way?'

Dont do both at the same frequency but do have backups stored on mac and in icloud.

Use icloud day to day because that happens automatically when I charge it, then perhaps once a month or if about to update will backup to mac, for faster restore if required.
