Backup iPhone and move it from MAc to win

I am going to be without my mac for a while and thus want to backup my iphone (apps etc) and move it to be used with my windows box.

Whats the best way to do this?

Currently the iphone is paired with my Mac (so its mac formatted etc) and I have many apps on it that I have got from the appstore directly.

I dont want to lose everything, but I really am a bit lost on this one and google doesnt seem to know the answer for me.

I used the Copy backup completely and restore from other machine approach. My contacts and stuff are all on mobileme so all is good
