I currently have a jail broken 2.2 iPhone 3g and ive noticed the last time i plugged it into itunes, it refuses to back up stating "iPhone disconnected before backup could be completed" im not sure how to fix this as im not disconnecting it my self. wondering if its a knon issue. thanks for any help with this.

Hmm, never had this happen to me. I suggest restoring your iphone to official apple firmware, then re-jailbreaking it. Should work.
Yes. That would be the best idea.
Or just try hard resetting it first.
If that still doesn't work, then just restore firmware.
