Backup Issues

So i guess my home network is flaky enough that I have been having trouble keeping backups. Time machine while great evidently has issues backing up over wifi. it the last month i have had the "after verifying time machine needs to create another back up." so then i have to to spend the time backing up 500 to 800GB again. I have tried to my redundant NAS and to my WD MyBook Live with the same issue. One backup didn't even complete I have read that this is caused by the backups having some type of issue during transfer via wifi. So I looked around and tried Crashplan using their app to back up to my NAS and it did about 20GB before it just sit there and said synchronizing for a whole day. So now i am on the hunt again for a good backup solution for my mac book. Anyone had any suggestions
