I am going to do a clean (re)install of leopard for various reasons, and I am mostly concerned with maintaining my itunes library. I am going to put my home folder on my external hard drive, reinstall and then load things back on as I need them, to sort of clean everything out. However I know that I want itunes to look exactly the same way as it does now and just need some suggestions to make sure that I get it as close as possible.

• I will of course have all my music and videos in my home folder on the external drive.
• I think that to save playlists i have to use the "export library" command. is that right?
• What do I have to do to bacukup the metadata and ratings?
• How do I restore this information after importing the songs?

• Is there anything I might have forgotten about?

Thanks
