Backup iTunes to External HD pc user?

Okay I am sending the PC for work and want to make sure I have the iTunes library back up. When in iTunes it has backup to Cd / DVD.. what if I want to backup to an external HD I have? May sound like a stupid question but I asked it Can I just find the folder (how) and copy it to the external HD? Any help would be appreciated. I searched the site before asking but nothing specific to help me. I need little words in english

Your best bet would be to just copy the iTunes library folder to the external drive, that way you are backing up your playlist as well.
