Backup Of DVD

Trying to make a backup of DVD and I can't. I've tried on a Windows box using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink but I am getting errors. I'm thinking that that encryption is too high. I'm now going to try on my ibook to rip the DVD. Is there a way that I can Rip the DVD and then drag the files over to my PC and use DVD Shrink? What program would work best for this. Preferably Free
