Hi Guys,

I'm trying to back up my data using external drive but notification pops up which says that drive is not available. What might be the problem?

When I type in terminl tmutil latestbackup I get:

Failed to start Time Machine browsing session for '/Volumes/Backups of Kamil’s MacBook Pro', error: Error Domain=TMStructureErrorDomain Code=4 "APFSMachineStore - Structure missing" UserInfo={NSUnderlyingError=0x600003fd55c0 {Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=2 "No such file or directory"}, TMStructureStructureName=APFSMachineStore, NSLocalizedDescription=APFSMachineStore - Structure missing}

Not sure. Have you tried restarting your Mac? Looks like the disk may be empty currently (since it says "waiting to complete first backup" so you could also try re-formatting it). I see it's an encrypted volume, but I know there's an option in the Time Machine settings to encrypt backups (System Preferences > Time Machine > Select Backup Disk > check the box at the bottom after selecting the disk). Perhaps you encrypted it through Disk Utility vs. selecting the "encrypt backups" option in Time Machine settings and that's causing an issue?

Had you previously used this drive in Monterey for Time machine backups? Is it formatted as APFS?

I’ve got the exact same proble, haven‘t found a solution yet. I can see the backups from within finder, but Time Machine doesn’t recognise the. - network - disk.

I had mine do the same thing with Ventura.
I just reformatted the time machine since I knew I wasn't going back, and it works fine now.

can you tell me step by step what did you do? i have the same problem

Open Disk Utility App --> Select the Time Machine disk --> click on "Erase" on top of the menu --> format as APFS --> click "Erase"

After that is done, go back to Time Machine and select the disk for Time Machine disk.
