So my father in law left his iPhone 7 on the back of his pickup and drove off. Phone fell and was ran over I assume multiple times lol here is what is left.

Amazingly, the phone still works. He already got an iPhone XR as a replacement but his last iCloud backup was in Feb 2017 so I tried to connect it to iTunes but iTunes requires you respond from the phone. Is there anyway to ‘respond’ from the phone in this condition to backup the phone?

Also, this is not an attempt to get into a locked phone. My in laws foolishly don’t use a passcode lock on their phones so that is not an issue and I can login to his Apple ID on iTunes afterwards but I am stuck at the ‘respond on iphone’ screen on iTunes.

I am assuming the only way would be to connect a new screen to the phone but any other suggestions would be helpful.

Depends on how important an old backup is. You can connect a usb keyboard by using a camera connect lightning to usb adapter. A two year old backup for a user that doesn't password protect their phone may not be that important.

We were able to use the 2 year old iCloud backup on the new iPhone XR but was hoping to be able to get an up to date backup from the broken phone onto the new phone for the pictures, contacts, etc.
