Backup thoughts - can I use a macbook pro like timecapsule

So I have a 13" MBP. Im buying a imac. Can use the laptopp to backup files from the imac easily?

I have never owned a timecapsule but from what I read it seams simple and useful. So Im thinking if I could save some money and just use the laptop for backup instead of buying timecapsule...

Just get a cheap external USB hard drive.

what hellhammer said. My mac backs up every hour i think (not sure why, Can i change that and how?). If you're doing the same it would be a waste to use your macbook when you can easily get a small drive for 50 quid

I live in iceland...no such thing as 50 quid

What about wireless...it sounds great not having to plug a usb into the imac everytime I want to backup

Just keep it plugged in 24/7 and your files will be backed up automatically
