I am relatively new to OS X/Apple.

I have set Backup 3 to do programmed backups to a Network Attached Storage Drive (IO Gear). The problem is that when the mac mini goes to sleep, it seems to lose the connection to the NAS. Often when I come back a day later, there are several backup jobs waiting to be executed - they won't execute until I open Finder, click on network, and connect again to the NAS.

Any suggestions to eliminate the bottleneck?

Or you could set up an Applescript to open the folder prior to executing the backup. Could be your first chance to dip your toes in the power of Applescript.

I presume you're not saying the Mac doesn't back up when it's asleep :p

Using my Mini as NAS, I have it set up to wake itself up at 9pm, I have SuperDuper on each of my 3 other Macs set to back up to the Mini at half-hourly intervals threafter. Each of the Macs is woken automatically by SuperDuper. I take it this wouldn't work with your set-up for some reason?
