Hi all,

I have a pretty good backup regime, using time machine, Carbon Copy Cloner, Chronosync, HDD's, USB and dropbox but want to add optical disc into the mix.

Currently I have about used about 250GB of my MBP's HDD.

Other than Restrospect does anyone have any other thoughts on software?

I've got a LG blu ray drive so can backup quite a bit at a time.

Many thanks.

Michael

Why do you want to add an optical medium into the mix?

Aren't HDDs sufficient enough for your needs?

I backup as followed: I have one 500 GB HDD for my photographs (digital and analog) libraries and editing documents, one 500 GB HDD with my personal video footage in an editing friendly format.
Both 500 GB HDDs get backed up to one 1 TB HDD via CarbonCopyCloner.
And that 1 TB HDD gets backed up to another 1 TB HDD via CarbonCopyCloner.
Therefore I have three copies of my important data.

I have Time Machine turned on with hourly backups to a Time Capsule.

I use CarbonCopyCloner to back up to an external hard drive, which stays locked in my desk at the office. I take it home and run the backup about twice a year, mostly before something major like an OS upgrade or if I have just added some very important files.

Don't see why I would ever need anything else.
