I saw this in a thread somewhere, but does anyone know (or has anyone tried) if older SATA 1.5 drives will work in the new Mac Pro? Are there issues running SATA 1.5 drives alongside SATA-II drives?

I'm going to answer this question myself. I just installed a SATA 1.5 HDD into my MP and it works beautifully!!!

if the one is writting to the other there will be a slight performance loss, because the one talks faster than the other can listen. where da scsi at?

the older drive will be slightly slower, but not because of the earlier SATA interface.

SATA is forwards and backwards compatible. wikipedia is your friend!
