One of the older variety, with the silver logo.
Holy moly.. I just stripped it down to replace a backlight unit and gained a serious appreciation for the manufacturing involved with these. I'm not at all sure I'll ever get it back together again! With 60 some screws of varying sizes, wiring harnesses, ribbon cables, hidden brackets, and a take apart guide that's only decent I'd give myself about a 50% chance.
The moral of the story? If half your screen goes dim.. think strongly about sending it in, and Applecare on Apple displays is definitely a good thing. Fortunately this display is a company asset so it's a no lose situation. If I didn't fix it they'd have junked it. At $15 bucks for a CCFL backlight and 130 for the inverter board I figured I'd try the backlight fix first.
