What’s up with the Apple TV and the really mediocre audio quality?

I have a pretty decent system but the audio is pretty mediocre and the volume levels are incredibly low and cause me to crank the volume or set some dynamic audio setting on my receiver.

Anyone know what bitrate iTunes movies are at?

I’ve been using best audio available but I’m going to switch to Dolby digital to see if that helps.

Make sure to turn off any audio compression settings on your receiver. Also, be sure to turn off "Reduce Loud Sounds" in Apple TV Video and Audio settings. Volume *will* be seem lower during quiet scenes or dialogue (compared to OTA or cable programming), but that is because you are getting greater dynamic range. If you don't like this, turn "Reduce Loud Sounds" back on.

Okay gotcha that makes sense,

Yeah I have dynamic eq on I’ll turn that off that’s probably compressing too much.
