Hi, I have a bad CF card that my iMac can't read. It's not a problem with the iMac or the reader, but with the card (because the camera can't read it either). I have some photos on that card that I'd like to recover. What are my options? Free is best. Are there any apps that do that?

It might sound obvious, but it depends what you mean by "cannot read".

If you mean you can't see any files on it, one of the many data recovery applications will do and a specialist JPEG recovery would likely be best, google would help you out. Most of them work by telling you what they could recover before you ahve to pay any money.

However, if you mean the card cannot even be recognized as a card, then probably the only way is a specialist service which likely would be very expensive, $100's.
