Purchased 2011 MBP from OWC for my sister.
She calls today and mentions red dots across the screen, the cursor changing shape, the screen going to white and the machine getting hot.

I told her how to force a shutdown.

I have 30 days on the OWC warranty.
Is this something that Apple will fix (swap motherboards ... or replace machine)?

I replaced thew spinner with an SSD I want to keep.

Is it a 15-inch/17-inch? If so, I would advise returning it ASAP and buying either a 13-inch or a 2012 15-inch. The 2011 15/17 are flawed to their core...they drop like flies, as Apple dropped the ball on the design, and never actually fixed the problem.

Apple will no longer service the machine as they have deemed it vintage, and AppleCare on that model would have expired 3-4 years ago. Even when they did service them under the free logic board replacement program, the replacement was the same defective logic board with the same design failure.
