I called an apple store, they expect the lines to start around 10 AM.. ?

Too many stores selling it for lines to be that long. This is unlike the iPhone. I'm getting to BB @3.

I just drove by my local store and there are already two people camping out @ Aspen Grove. D***, that ruins my plans for showing up at 2PM.

Eh, I'm not that worried. I'm showing up at 3:30 at my local Apple. There are 9 locations within 10Sq miles of my apple store selling iPad 2s.

Just because that is when the first of the line starts only means those people will be the first ones in and out.

They will wait 7 hours and so will most people.

Assuming Apple Stores have a lot of stock (which I am betting they have a nice amount), all you have to worry about is time spent in line.

So if you get there at 2-3pm, figure that you may be standing in line at least 5-6 hours and walk out of there by 8-10pm.

Bottom line, expect to stand in line for a long time.

2 people already there? Dam. Guess I should go drive to the southwest best Buy and scope things out.

Not going to happen. Apple stores have all of their employees there for launches like this. I know the original iPad my Apple store had about 28 people selling them. So, basically, they were taking in 28 people at a time, and I'd guess it was about 3-5 minute intervals. So if you figure that it was 5 minutes for every customer, they'd have been through a 500 person line in an hour and a half. I don't think there is really any chance of seeing lines last til 10PM.

There are well over 10000 stores that will be selling iPads. No need to line up... unless you are so desperate. I am going to best buy around 4:30-4:45 ish.

Um doubt it. This isn't an iPhone. No activation is required. They ring it up, give them your card and your out. They'll blast through a line in an hour easy maybe two hours. Especially with Best Buy, Target and Walmart selling the iPad 2 lines won't be ridiculous. They want lines but they won't be crazy. The news stations will be filming making it look like the lines are really long.

There is no way the transaction will take 3-5 minutes each, but yeah, I somewhat agree with you. Depends on how long the lines are and how many store options you have, I guess. We only have two here. They are both fairly large, but I am also in the 3rd largest city in the country :)

Uuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ok then. Guaranteed it won't go as smooth as you two are saying, but maybe my estimations were a little high.

Not everyone is hardcore. People are going to have questions and want to pick out accessories, etc. And you *know* some are going to be taking the setup option that Apple is offering.

How late would the Apple stores be open tomorrow? My only other time I was there for a release was the i4 and that was a morning release and not evening.
