Bad Picture Quality on iPhone 7/7+

I have noticed that the pictures I have taken on my 7+ do seem to have the water color affect.

I've noticed that on my iPhone 7 I'm almost getting the iPhone 7+ blurred back ground effect lol.

lately, when I focus on someone or something close up, the background is very blurred. more so than I remember it being on my iPhone 6. nonetheless, the 7 for me takes exceptional pictures. only thing I don't like, nor ever have, is apples HDR photos. they don't look any different than the regular. so I use ProCamera for my specialty shots (low light, HDR etc)
