Every once in a while my optical drive fan spins up to max and sticks there until I do a sleep. Whats weird is when i look at the temperatures from Macs Fan Control or iStat Menu everything looks normal -- in the past when i forgot to hook up a sensor i'd get no reading.

I did some digging (http://www.parhelia.ch/blog/statics/k3_keys.html) and found the 'SBF ' key in the SMC registers where there's a sensor failure, and its giving me 0x1000. However, I can't figure what bit 12 maps to....

Anyone know if this would have the same bitmap as SIS!, which apparently would indicate TL0P / LCD proximity sensor? Or is there a better source for figuring out which SMC keys are which for my iMac?

Thx!
