Both my 15" MacBook Pro (i5) and my mum's last year 15" C2D ones have what seems to be an inaccurate balance with the internal speakers. The right hand speakers appear to be stronger.

Anyone else noticed this? It's not the end of the world, as the balance can be changed, but you'd think at 50% left 50% right that the volume would be the same per speaker...

System Preferences -> Sound -> Sound out -> Balance

Did you actually read my post? :)

I'll try and explain in more detail. On both computers mentioned above, when the balance slider is exactly in the middle, the right speaker sounds stronger.

I just think it's weird that it is the same issue on both MBPs. I know it's not an issue to change it under System Prefs....

Looks like there is only one speaker + subwoofer so it ain't a surprise that sounds comes more from the right ;)

Surely there is two speakers in there?!?

Not according to iFixit who has taken MBP apart. They only speak about ONE speaker and subwoofer (which are connected as in pic #2). I'm not sure but it could be right as the sound is louder from other side...

Not true. The second speaker is mounted directly on the logic board. Here's the pic.

Ahh, okay, thanks! Just couldn't see it when browsed through the teardown

Anyway, as it's louder from the right, maybe the SuperDrive is somehow "blocking" the sound?

I remember an iBook G4 I took apart had two speakers, so i'd have been surprised if this MPB didn't.
