there ya have it! looks like they say that the sport watch will work, but won't match perfectly, so less bands are available.

So in theory you can put a milanese loop on a sport

Yep...the bands and watches all have the same connector method so no reason they wont work. The only issue is if some fashion police types start whining at you for having a band that doesnt perfectly match and that bothers you.

I also think that there will be a massive 3rd party strap market so you'll probably be able to get just about anything at some point down the line.
