Hi all,

This is an mp3 player from B&O which was made around 2002.
On their website ( through archive.org ) there is a version of the software
for mac for OSX tiger but the download is not available.
I've tried to find it the name of the file is BeoSound2_MACOSX.zip
does anyone by any chance have this file?

PS. below are a couple of shots of the player :D

Best regards,
voidRunner

Can't help you with the software unfortunately, but I had one of these a couple of years back. (I'm a bit of a b&o fan.) Cool lil thing, if somewhat basic.

Hi skinnie,

Thank but unfortunately the file I need is not there.
The one I need is in this page ( the last one that says 10.4 universal binary )

Best regards,
voidRunner

So from what I understand what you need is the firmware 2.51 (latest) and the program attached to it right?
Guess your luck is either emailing B&O asking for that specific firmware or via this forum.

The 10.4 one you referenced is 1.1Mb size - and there is a file that size inside BeoSound2_MACOSX as referenced by @skinniezinho have you tried it?

Hi Drone,

In the zip I download there is no file with that size.
I've gone back to the url skinnie sent and I can't see that file.
The ones I see are less than 800k

Can you post the one you found?? I must be going nuts.... or blind....

Hi Drone,

Thanx but unfortunately thar was the one I was already trying and it seems
it's for a version of iTunes much older and not the ones for Tiger.
I also read in another post in another forum that that version was for iTunes 7.3 and newer
which I tried and it still didn't recognize the player although Leopard does show it
in System Profiler under USB when I activate iTunes Mode.
Have to keep looking ;-) someone must still have it somewhere.

@longboarder it's a plugin for iTunes so no B&O interface like the ones for Windoze ;-)

Yes because it may be an earlier version with earlier firmware (1.1.x) . But right now, if you don't have any other option, I guess you can try this version till you find the latest which also brings the firmware 2.5.1

From what can I see here you have versions 200 and 250 for os9 and pc
If you can run it just to update your device, then I think the app should be similar.
Edit: this "backup" is from 2017, the website with that MacOs X 10.4 universal binary is from 2009, so I guess maybe it was pulled. Just give the MacOSX 800kb sit a go..

what does it look like when you plug it in on itunes?

Hi longboarder,

Unfortunately nothing happens no "thinking" beachball.. nothing.
I alsoo tried to check Console while doing this to see if something ( an error perhaps )
would show there but nope, nada....

I'm going to try @skinniezinho's suggestion and install the windows
version on a windows 7 VM and see it there it is detected properly and also
"see" exactly what version of the firmware is installed.

Best regards,

Hi voidRunner,
What are you actually try to achieve?
Running the program to create playlist?Update the firmware? On PPC or Intel?
While I was searching for the files there were some opinions that the program was a bit complicated to use and people ended just putting the files inside the mp3 player/sdcard.
If it was mine I would go to a windows machine, see what firmware it had, and if it was 1.X update to 2.0 and then to 2.5/2.5.1 to ensure better compability with the files.
In the meantime maybe B&O or someone in the forums answer you with the 10.4 Mac Version. But it is strange that in a 2017 bakcup of the ftp it isn't present.
Best of luck and then share the progress and some pictures with us.
