Fortunate for me i'm on a well deserved week off. I get to lay in bed reading my book all morning while the wind tries to knock our house down.

So long as toto makes it into the shelter... i'm not putting on my red shoes for no one. Just me, bed and a cuppa british tea (sorry, but this is my first time back in 10 months to the uk and currently enjoying the simple things a bit tooo much).

and..
lol no point to this thread. dare i suggest wasteland haha

nuh. you can't suggest that ;)... it's the community forum... it's about a news event happening in the UK right now... i can't see a reason to wasteland it yet.

Plus.. it has no point to you maybe because you are living in Colorado...

;)

I'm glad I've got a delivery tomorrow morning and am working from home...

I could work from home, I guess.

Just in case 40mph sounds wimpy to some, in central London you can get some pretty nasty wind-tunnel type winds in between the buildings. The creaky infrastructure and heavy rain means there will likely be transport problems as well.

Hmm... listening to reports it does sound as if we're missing the worst of this particular storm up here in the north-east, but looking at the BBC forecast we're still down for heavy rain and 46mph gusts tomorrow morning. Cripes.

Yeah, we had fun with the wind tunnel effect between buildings here (Virginia Beach, VA) last night.

73'F here during the afternoon, 34'F by 9PM, 70+ MPH wind gusts in-between.

You could literally tilt into the wind and it would support you enough to keep you from falling onto your face.
