Hello everyone!

I saw that the barometric sensor is present on the iPhone.

What is this sensor for?

Is it used by the application for the weather? In this case relying on the real-time data of the barometer reading would help to have more accurate forecasts I think.

And can you always see a real-time reading made by the sensor in the weather application?

Thanks so much!

One use is to measure air pressure to determine altitude. The compass used to have altitude listed right under the long and lat data. It's not there anymore and hasn't been for a while. There may be other uses too but I'm not aware of them. It seemed to be pretty accurate too.

Does anyone know if you can still get altitude data on the iPhone? If so, how?

It’s still there in Compass on my iPhones. I’m at 110 metres.
