Base 15" rMBP --> Issue with HDMI Port waking from Sleep with Monitor

Have latest version of rMBP, base model.

Monitor1 is hooked up vi Display Port, no issues.

Bought 2nd monitor today at Costco (Samsung S27D360).

It only connects HDMI or VGA, so I did straight DHMI cable.

Monitor works except after mbp sleeps. On waking up, it cannot get a signal.

any tips ?
