I want to buy a new macbook pro. Currently have 2010 13 MBP with SSD and 8gb RAM.

As my question says which one is better ? I can get both at the same price (1199 $).

Which one to go for in terms of longevity. I have seen from reviews that 2017 base one is 20 percent faster in terms of processing and other tasks but has a smaller size 128gb SSD. Also, screen brightness is much better in 2017 ones..

Which one to go for ? Please Help

if possible take the current one but upgrade to 256GB

if that is not an option , go for the 2016 with 256GB , 128 is wayyyy too little as the OS itself going to take a nice chunk of it and you would you be left with very small amount of storage.

As another poster mentioned, get something with a 256 SSD. The 20% faster number is true but a bit misleading.

Numbers don't lie.

I'd go 2017, get the 256gig HD.

Well, numbers can lie but that's not the point here.

If they OP can afford whatever, then sure get the faster MacBook Pro with the 256ssd - I would advise that easily. But if budget is a concern, the 20% cpu increase is negligible if you're sacrificing a 256ssd for a 128.

Favor the 2017 for the CPU improvements, GPU improvements, RAM improvements, and keyboard refinements. I agree going for at least 256 is worthwhile.

Thanks Everyone. I dont have the extra cash to go for 256gb 2017 one..

Sell your blood. The extra cash is worth the upgrade to a 256GB 2017 MBP. Or buy a refurb. Plenty of 2017 MBPs on Apple's refurb website.
