Baseball Slugger Help!!

I'm no good! How do you judge when to hit? ive tried following the shadow, just trying to time it. Whats the best way to do it?

It seems to work best for me when I track the baseball with the bat marker all the way from the time it leaves the pitcher's hands to when the shadow appears above the home plate, then swing. When I track it the whole time I get more hits.
