So I find myself occasionally wanting to edit images, splice 2 or more images together, or just do some real basic photo editing and cant justify the cost of photoshop since I will NEVER use it to even 15% of its potential. What is a good (preferably free but under $25 is okay) app for osx that I can download?

Don't forget that iPhoto (part of Apple's iLife suite) has some very basic photo editing abilities. (emphasis on the word basic, but sometimes this is all that is needed).

pixelmator with $49 is above your limit but it's worth the money IMHO. simpler than photoshop but very good for occasional use.

thanks guys just got Gimp... it seems to be exactly what I was looking for... I need to play with it a little bit and figure it out though... and im thinking its about time to up the ram in my MBP... 2GB is too little...

Seashore is a simpler, GIMP derived alternative. It doesn't go crazy with your RAM either. And it's damn good to boot.

hmm... ill check out seashore soon... still think im gonna up the ram asap though... just waiting for a good deal, and some spare cash.
