Howdy!

I just bought a Samsung UR55 (https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/uhd-and-wqhd/28-ur50-uhd-monitor-lu28r550uqnxza/) for my new Mac Mini and I'm quite happy with it.

However, I want to make sure it's correctly calibrated - I found some calibration settings listed on Reddit from a while back here:
and that's fine, but Mac OS apparently has an internal calibration system that I'd like to try to use to see if that looks better to me.

Here's the question: I assume that I should reset everything to factory defaults (ie, NOT have the values set to R: 44, G: 49, B: 64 as listed in the post above) before I fiddle around with the software settings, is that right?

Thanks!

Hi there, sorry - my question is not "how do I calibrate my monitor," but rather "should I adjust my hardware settings on the monitor itself before calibrating it via software" - a friend who works in design and also has a Mac says "yes," so that's what I'll be doing (just in case anyone stumbles onto this thread in the future). Thanks though!

If you're using proper measurement device/software combo, the software usually tells you what to do and in what direction to adjust display's hardware controls.

Yeah, I'm not looking to go all out and use some sort of measurement device, like I don't do professional work so I don't feel the need to spend the money to get that granular with it, just want everything to be as close to Correct as possible because I am a weirdo like that. Thank you though, that is helpful!
