I got a new MBP and would like to migrate my old one to it. Unfortunately during the initial boot of the new one, when OSX asked whether I want to transfer things from an old computer, I didn't have firewire (sadly you need a cable with FW400 on one side and FW800 on the other) or a network connection running, but migrating later was offered as an option. So I logged in to my new admin account on the new machine. However it turned out that the Migration assistant doesn't allow to migrate data into the new admin account, but I have to establish a new user account on the new MBP to migrate into. I thought, oh well, that way I should simply be able to copy my files and preferences over from the user account to the new admin account using su privileges, without having to go through an external drive each time.

However I'm not sure this is a sensible way to go and if it is I need some guidance for how to do it. For example, can I simply copy the entire content of the old Library/ to the new Library/, without breaking some things?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
