Basic Software Update question

Does Software Update *ONLY* list those updates compatible with my current release of OS X (10.5.4) ?

The reason I ask is I haven't updated to 10.5.5 yet (due to other people having issues) and see other updates pending like the Raw compatibility updates etc. Can I install all these updates and leave 10.5.5 ? or do some of these require me to have 10.5.5 installed already, and if so how do I know which?

It only lists updates compatible with the hardware and software you are running.

Yes, updates will only show if they are compatible with your current OS version.

It's better to install all updates, as some may be dependent on others.
