Basic sound recording program?

Just wondering if there's any built in sound recording program for OS 10.5 (sort of like the sound recorder in Windows I guess). If not, any recommendations on a free/basic one that is compatible with Leopard? Thanks.

Garageband is going to be a quick suggestion around here. Audacity is another freebie as well.

As far as I know there isnt a built in program, but I have always used audio hijack pro. Its not free, but its not too expensive.

true though with quicktime all you do is click file>new audio recording which opens the recording window and once you finish recording it automactically saves it

I think you mean Quicktime Pro which isn't free.
